    I   Unit: Ritual Dance Theme: Ruth St. Denis & Ted Shawn   II Introduction  In 1914 St . Denis married Ted Shawn , her dance partner. The next year they founded the Denishawn school and company in Los Angeles . He is considered one of the pioneers of modern dance  in Europe as the "Founding Father of the Expressionist Dance" in Germany.  He is considered to be one of the most important figures in the history of dance.
